Reinstate the Topshop Two |
Billionaire tax-dodger, BHS pension robber and knight of the realm ‘Sir’ Philip Green continues to demonstrate his respect for the rights of the workers whose labour keeps him in the style to which he is accustomed.
Two cleaners at Green’s flagship brand Topshop have been sacked for daring to campaign for a living wage. The two women, one of whom had cleaned Topshop for the last seven years, were employed by Britannia Services Group (BSG), Topshop’s chosen contractor.
BSG came under pressure from Topshop to sack the two single mothers from Ecuador after they had committed the ‘crime’ of standing outside the store holding placards reading “Topshop, shame on you”.
Just like Samsung, Topshop likes to keep its hands clean, leaving it up to subcontractors to do the dirty work. The Topshop campaign for a living wage continues. (See United Voices of the World website)
